I decided to fire my pool guy to save money and to improve the maintenance of my pool. It wasn’t a difficult decision to make but of course letting him know was uncomfortable. In retrospect, it was the right decision. He felt behind on his responsibilities. For instance, he never tested the water, and failed to communicate with me. Also, he scratched my new plaster, and it bothered me. I spent so much money fixing it.
Not having a pool guy forced me to learn how to take care of a pool. Learning pool care 101 wasn’t easy, it took time but because now I do it myself I save money monthly, and if I mess up then I blame myself. Should you fire your pool guy? No, that’s not what I am saying, but it pays to learn the basics of pool care. Once you have the knowledge you can test your pool guy to find out if he knows what he is doing. Go ahead, invest some time to learn, you will love yourself more for doing it.
